Friendship:

I have so many great friends. I think that friends are one of the most important things a person can have. You get to pick them. They weren't born into your life like family. They are there for you because they want to be. They can come and go if they want but the choose to stay. Real friends have your back no matter what. They don't leave just because the situation you are going through is to hard. I have found out the hard way a couple of times in my life who my real friends are. It makes the friendship mean so much more that way.
One of my oldest friends is Beth. I met her during our freshman year of high school 9 years ago. We spent almost everyday together during that year. Either staying at my house or at her house. We did almost everything together. I had a lot of other friends at that time too but she was my best friend. When I went through one of the worst moments of my life when I was molested by a guy at school she was the only friend I had left. She was the only one who was strong enough to be there for me when most people were not. Still to this day she is always there for me and supports me in everything I do. She is the strongest person I know. I am very proud of her and everything she has done. My kids even call her Auntie Beth.
When I transfered to a new school my sophomore year of high school I met a girl named Katy. We became very close and hung out everyday after school. I have a lot of stories with her of coming home late and trying to sneak back into the house without our parents finding out. During the summer we did everything together. I don't remember a time that we weren't together. My Junior year we grew apart and made new friends. It wasn't until after high school that we started hanging out again. Now are relationship is just as strong as it was in the beginning. She has been there for me through a lot and I am glad to call her one of my best friends.
At the end of my sophomore year I started hanging out with Milleah. I can talk to her about anything. She is the most honest person that I know. When I need someone to tell me how it is and not worry about if the truth will hurt me I go to her. I can stay up all night talking to her about every area of my life and she listens and understands all of it. We have been best friends since high school and still we are today. I made a mistake in our friendship and lost her for almost a year. I learned a lot in that time about friendship and what is important to me. She forgave me and I forgave her for everything that had happened. The day we started hanging out again was like we had never stopped talking at all. I don't want to ever lose her again and I think we will be best friend as long as we live.
My senior year I had a foreign exchange student for the whole year, Gaelle. We became like sisters right away doing everything together. She is the bravest and smartest person that I know. She would never do anything to hurt anyone. I would like to be more like her. After high school she went back home to Belgium for a while. Before she left she came to my first ultrasound to support me, it meant a lot to me. Then after a while she came back to live with us. She was able to be there for awhile to go to school and get to know my oldest kid, Christian. I hope to visit her someday and hope that she will return to visit me and see how my family has grown now.
I have a lot of other friends that mean a lot to me. I have so many stories and memories of all of them. The people I wrote about were there for me during hard times in my life and I consider my best friends.
